This section shows long term trends in key stock price indices. We get caught up in daily (hourly) price fluctuations. Remember that we invest for the long run! In the past, most consumers were only familiar with the Dow Jones Industrial Average because it was the only index regularly quoted by non-financial news media. Now, consumers and investors regularly follow the Nasdaq composite, along with the Russell 2000, and the S&P 500. The Fed has added the Wilshire 5000 to the list.
