The Bottom Line

Economic indicators were sparse this week, but this was probably irrelevant because investors were focused on earnings and accounting statements. Anecdotal evidence coupled with economic news we have seen in the past week suggests that the U.S. economy is back to the plateau of late summer. Several key indicators will be reported next week (retail sales, industrial production) that could reassure investors the economy is indeed on the road to recovery.
