A number of key indicators will be released this week in Europe, Japan and Canada (the U.S. as well) that should provide an updated reading of the world's economic health. While the prognosis for Europe and Japan remains glum, Canada has managed to surprise on the strong side despite worries about the U.S. It is a holiday-shortened week in the United States, so trading is likely to be light once Wednesday's economic data are out of the way. However, Thursday is no holiday elsewhere and investors will weigh new economic data and decide whether the recent equities rally merits another week of investor support.
