Week of rest on the economic front

Economic indicators were light this week. The equity markets focused on earnings announcements, and the bond market concentrated on the new supply of 5- and 10-year notes, and 30-year bonds that were auctioned this week. All investors are anxiously awaiting the words of Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan who is set to testify next week on monetary policy before the Senate Banking Committee. Market players are hoping that Greenspan will give a hint about the magnitude or the timing of the next move.
