Sparse news, but good
By Evelina M. Tainer, Chief Economist, Econoday

Economic indicators this week may have been few, but the ones reported on Thursday and Friday brought good news. Jobless claims fell below 400,000, durable goods orders rose twice as much as expected, and home sales rose in June and remained significantly above year-ago levels. But the data was stacked at the end of the week, while the first half of the week instead was filled with corporate earnings and speeches from Fed officials.
